CNN —House Republicans leading the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden tried to downplay the importance of an FBI informant whose claims they once championed after he was charged with fabricating foreign bribery allegations involving the president and his son. Special counsel David Weiss charged the FBI informant, Alexander Smirnov, with lying to the FBI and creating false records. The indictment is just the latest setback to House Republicans who are struggling to build momentum to impeach the president. In the wake of the charges, President Joe Biden called out the informant for lying and said Republicans should end their impeachment inquiry. In the wake of the charges, Republicans have seized on the idea that Smirnov was initially presented as a credible witness.

Following his retirement from the NFL, Patrick Mahomes appears to be the heir-apparent to that winning pedigree. He’s still a way off Brady’s seven Super Bowl rings, but for some, the Kansas City QB is a serious rival to Brady’s ‘Greatest Of All Time’ tag. Getty ImagesLike many of Brady’s Super Bowl runs with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 2023 trek for Chiefs has been one of sheer determination. Kansas City’s season has been fraught with offensive issues, yet the team finds itself in its second successive Super Bowl, primarily on the back of Mahomes’ brilliance in the postseason. But Mahomes isn’t the only quarterback in the Super Bowl who has impressed.

CNN —Tom Brady may have called time on his football career, but that hasn’t stopped him from keeping a close eye on the NFL this season. Asked why he felt that way, Brady added: “I think the coaching isn’t as good as it was. “I think the rules have allowed a lot of bad habits to get into the actual performance of the game. It’s not up to a defensive player to protect an offensive player. Skewed the game so that players don’t have to be as skilled to be productive.”

His testimony sheds new light on how his office vetted the tip, and he disputed past Democratic claims that he “closed” the matter without recommending any further scrutiny. However, it doesn’t bolster the GOP narrative that Joe Biden or his son Hunter Biden were offered or accepted a bribe. The informant described his interactions with Mykola Zlochevsky, a Ukrainian oligarch and owner of the energy company Burisma, where Hunter Biden had served on the board. The saga of a once-trusted FBI informant bringing explosive but unverified claims about a presidential candidate is reminiscent of the Christopher Steele debacle in 2016. This time, the political roles are reversed: Republicans are championing the unproven bribery claims, as Democrats try to discredit the material.

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (AP) — For decades, preventing dengue fever in Honduras has meant teaching people to fear mosquitoes and avoid their bites. Enriquez, a 52-year-old mason, had volunteered to help publicize a plan to suppress dengue by releasing millions of special mosquitoes in the Honduran capital. The Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that most commonly spread dengue have been resistant to insecticides, which have fleeting results even in the best-case scenario. SCIENTISTS SURPRISED BY BACTERIAThe Wolbachia strategy has been decades in the making. But along the way, O’Neill’s team made a surprising discovery: Mosquitoes carrying Wolbachia didn’t spread dengue — or other related diseases, including yellow fever, Zika and chikungunya.

But after a second check from the blood pressure machine, and taking his own blood pressure at home, it had returned to much more acceptable levels. At the hospital, his first blood pressure cuff had been too small, and it was changed only at his request. Now, a new clinical trial highlights how much an improperly sized blood pressure cuff can distort blood pressure readings taken by automated blood pressure devices. But frequently, only regular-sized cuffs are used to take someone’s blood pressure, even though clinical guidelines recommend using cuffs suited for a person’s arm circumference. Either way, experts say, a one-size-fits-all approach can skew blood pressure readings, interfering with core metrics that doctors use to monitor and treat heart conditions.

James Gathany/CDC/Handout/ReutersWhile serious mosquito-borne diseases remain rare in the US, other countries are not so lucky. While scientists are yet to assess the role climate change has played in the outbreak, Carlson said the links seem clear. But the shift of mosquito-borne diseases into regions like the US and Europe is still likely to be a shock. Scientists are working to develop tools to be able to better assess the link between mosquito-borne diseases and climate change. The path the world takes on reducing planet-heating pollution will lead to very different futures for mosquito-borne diseases, Brady said.

In May, Brady agreed to buy a minority ownership stake in the team. Brady also owns an ownership stake in the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces.

The football legend shared a series of photos on his verified Instagram page on Sunday of ex-wife Gisele Bündchen and their two children, Vivan and Benjamin, alongside photos of Brady’s former partner Bridget Moynahan, who is mom to their son Jack. “Happy Mothers Day to all these amazing women who have given our family so much throughout their lives. The pair have continued to support each other publicly since they went their separate ways. “Listen, I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever,” Bündchen said, going on to say he’s the “one person” in this world she hopes is the happiest.
CNN —Starbucks is betting big on olive oil infused coffee, hoping customers will be enticed by the anomaly and the health benefits of extra virgin olive oil. Science behind the painOlive oil is a staple in Mediterranean culture and some drink bits of olive oil in the region daily. But the Starbucks drink has a potentially fragile combination: caffeine, which is a stimulant, and olive oil, which is a relaxant. Former CEO Howard Schultz picked up this habit himself from olive oil producer Tommaso Asaro while in Sicily, Italy. “He thought it was a little strange.” Asaro is the chairman of United Olive Oil, through which Starbucks is sourcing its olive oil.
The recently retired quarterback Tom Brady stars in ‘80 for Brady,’ a comedy set around the peak of his NFL career. In the closing scene of “80 for Brady,” the Super Bowl comedy now in theaters, Tom Brady lounges on a beach with four Hollywood A-listers aged 76 to 91. Dressed in floppy hats, caftans and white shorts, they discuss the pros and cons of retirement. “You know I’ve thought a lot about retirement,” Brady says, smirking just a little bit, “but it’d be a shame to retire if you feel like you’ve still got it.”

Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is retiring from football. His seven Super Bowl titles are more than any single organization has won. He was twice foiled in the Super Bowl by the New York Giants. Brady racked up yardage but Tampa Bay fired its offensive coordinator, Byron Leftwich. Look again, though, at the piercing final play from that game: A 30-yard Rams field goal, the ball snapped from the Tampa Bay 12-yard line.
Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, said Sunday that Rep.-elect George Santos should consider resigning after he admitted that he fabricated and “embellished” several claims about his background involving his education and work history. Santos, who made LGBTQ political history when he won the November race in New York’s 3rd Congressional District, is set to be sworn in Tuesday when the new Congress begins. During an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Brady, who is retiring from Congress, said Santos would need to “take some huge steps” to regain public trust. “He certainly is going to have to consider resigning.”However, Brady said, Santos could redeem himself by owning up to his missteps. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Minn., the outgoing chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee, have ignored questions from reporters about Santos and whether he should be seated.

They believed in me when I was the last draft pick and all that stuff.”Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady runs against San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa during the second half of their game.
CNN —When his team trails in the fourth quarter, Tom Brady is almost inevitable. Down 13 points against the New Orleans Saints in the closing minutes, Brady steered the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to an improbable 17-16 win on Monday Night Football. The win was extraordinary even by Brady’s standards, marking the largest regular-season fourth-quarter comeback in his career, according to ESPN. That brought Tampa Bay within six points before Brady orchestrated an 11-play, game-winning drive and found Rachaad White for the touchdown with three seconds remaining. New Orleans have a bye this weekend and next face the Atlanta Falcons on December 18, while Tampa Bay play the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
While Republicans sought to seize on that economic anxiety during the campaign, most candidates provided few specifics. “The GOP still doesn’t know what its economic policy is in a post-Trump world,” said Brian Riedl, who worked for six years as chief economist for Republican Sen. Biden said he has no plans to change his approach to the economy, despite voters’ sentiments, making a shift toward a compromise with Republicans on economic policy seemingly unlikely. “That means there will be a lot less economic policy. “Republicans are going to need to deliver on the economy, especially if the economy is worsening and inflation is worsening,” said Riedl.
And on Sunday, he became the first player in NFL history to reach 100,000 passing yards in his career, combining regular season and playoffs, in a 16-13 comeback win for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the Los Angeles Rams. Before the game, Brady pointed to his current and former teammates when asked about potentially breaking the record. Brady drops back to pass during the first quarter of the game against the Rams. Kevin Sabitus/Getty Images“It’s all about the win,” Brady said after the 55th game-winning drive of his 23-year career. The Buccaneers next head to Munich to face the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL’s first ever game in Germany on Sunday.
Tom Brady got candid about how his personal life is spilling over into his work and making headlines. After 13 years of marriage, Brady and Bündchen announced on Oct. 28 that they officially divorced. “I think there’s a lot of professionals in life that go through things that they deal with at work and they deal with at home,” Brady told Gray. Brady and Bündchen married in 2009 and share two children, Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9. As for Bündchen, she said that the divorce was amicable and that her focus remained on their children last week when announcing the split.

That’s what I’ll just continue to do as long as I’m working and as long as I’m being a dad.”Gray asked Brady if there is a challenge compartmentalizing between the two. “I think that’s what being a professional is,” Brady said. Brady, 45, had retired from the NFL in February, only to later reverse that decision. In a recent conversation on his podcast, Brady talked about some of the personal costs of playing in the NFL for two decades. And I’m not able to be at funerals and I’m not able to be at weddings,” Brady said.
